With hues of soft grays & whites filling up all of our homes, I have a feeling that we're going to see a strong comeback of deep dark colours in the next few years. I love the soft delicate spaces I see all over Pinterest and Instagram, but when I tried putting an off-white on my walls it felt completely blah in our space (read more about our living room paint colour here, and the completion of our living room here).
Basically, we went back to the drawing board and landed on a rich, mid-tone gray to give us the depth and warmth we didn't realize we were looking for.
The point is - I think this may happen for a lot of people as the white-on-white trends start to move out and we begin craving bolder more dramatic tones again. This doesn't mean the whole home needs repainting! White is and will always be a great backdrop for dark furniture, bright area rugs, and bold accents. These charcoals are some of my favourite to use as feature walls, interior (or exterior) doors, cabinetry, or powder rooms - and can be easily incorporated into your space if you're also craving some more warmth.
